Some of the reasons are (1) As many man-hours as CAD are required because of interactive operations. (2) Characteristic shape is often lost because of simple surface structure. We have newly released TSV-CT2, which realizes minimization of man-hours by full automation and can restore characteristic shape exactly using trimmed NURBS curved surfaces for complex shape. I will introduce its features including demonstration.

Yoshihisa Kinoshita/Alpine Electronics, Inc. “Case study of TSV in Alpine Electronics, Inc.In our company, which develops car audio and car navigation systems, shortening of development period and improvement of product quality are demanded. Practical use of CAE is becoming increasingly important every year for those purposes. We adopt advanced technologies such as HPC and GPU computing to shorten calculation time and get some effect. However, the bottleneck which takes the longest time has been creation of FEM models for many years. Some experienced CAE engineers used to operate by hand for this work. We will introduce the case study that we reduced man-hours using TSV in this area.

6. Kazuki Kuno/AW Engineering Co., Ltd. Activity for improving efficiency on stress analysis of transmission assembly modelWe are working for Aisin AW company, transmission parts supplier in world wide, on supporting their development activities. Today more time efficient analysis service is requested to reduce their development time as importance of CAE is increasing. I speak about our Activity for improving efficiency on stress analysis of transmission assembly model with TSV.

7. Hideyuki Hata/Toyota Technical Development Corporation “Acoustic mesher for sound -radiation analysis of an engine”With recent advances in technology of sound-radiation analysis, sound-radiation analysis of an actual engine has entered the practical stage. Improvement of an acoustic solver and emergence of a preprocessor dedicated to acoustic analyses have contributed greatly to realize this. I will present the requirements for an acoustic mesher and introduce the process of creating an acoustic model using a dedicated pre-processor AC Modeling.

8. Takahiro Ikuta/Suzuki Motor Corporation – “Introduction to the system creating a mold structure analysis model using TSV”To execute a strength stiffness analysis of a mold in a short time, we developed a system to create a model for a mold structural analysis. Because a mold analysis model is a large-scale model consisting of about 200 parts, we have been taking long time to set contacts and bolt axial forces. I will present the effect for shortening of man-hours by this development and our future efforts, based on the contents of automation of settings of contacts and bolt axial forces.

9. Masatoshi Hattori/Toyota Motor Corporation “Case study of TSV in design to reduce sound radiation of a resin intake manifold”Intake manifolds used to be made of aluminum, but recently they are mainly made of resin which is lighter and cheaper. But resin is lower in stiffness so that design considering sound radiation is important. We could greatly shorten the period of a sound radiation analysis using TSV and could put those analyses in the design process. I will introduce our efforts for this. Moreover, I will also introduce our current efforts to use CAE not only to evaluate completed shapes, but also to decide skeleton structures.

10. Toru Kurisu/Mazda Motor Corporation “Development of SKYACTIVE engines and transmissions utilizing high precision analysis models”We realized to shorten a period of highprecision CAE with huge scale models by development of an analysis system where TSV is positioned as the nucleus. Using this system, we could develop SKYACTIVE engines and transmissions, which are epoch-making high performance and high fuel efficiency power trains, in a much shorter period than before. I will introduce the outline of the development.

1. TSV-Pre

Before Installation

Which operating systems are supported?
Microsoft Windows2000 Professional SP4 or after, WindowsXP Professional SP2 or after are supported.
Which CAD applications are supported?
TSV-Pre can import 3D geometry models created by various CAD applications by direct import or via intermediate files.
Supported file types are Pro-E, Catia V4V5(VRML), I-DEAS(IDI), Parasolid, ACIS, STL, and BDF. Assembly models can also be imported.

What are the minimum hardware requirements for TSV-Pre?
CPU: Pentium4 2.4GHz or higher, Memory: 1GB or above, HDD: 20GB free space or more (depending on model size), 400MB for installation, VGA: True Color (32bit), VRAM: 128MB or above, VGA card supporting OpenGL.

After Installation

The program will not be launched by double-clicking the desktop icon.The driver of your VGA card could be old. Please obtain the latest version of your driver from the VGA card vendor’s website.
The clip-cap function of the 3D mouse cannot be used.
Due to the characteristics of OpenGL, the clip-cap function cannot be used if the interior of the model is not completely closed. In case any holes are detected, please perform a manual clean-up to close them.
After assembly, how can I define the nodes on the common faces as double-nodes?
In order to change the common nodes on the common face into double-nodes, select the common face on the screen and click the Separate Face command on the Load/Constraints tab.

2. TSV-Post

Which operating systems are supported?

Which solvers are supported?
Various solvers are supported, such as Nastran, ABAQUS, ADVC, and LS-DYNA.

How are the analysis results displayed?
Analysis results specified by the solver are shown as a contour plot. The user can start from this plot to create an arbitrary result display as required.

Can TSV-Post display vectors?
Vector displays can be created from the basic result plot.

Can TSV-Post display animated simulation results?
Animations can be created from the basic result plot.
What is a 3D mouse?
The 3D mouse is an original tool of TSV that can show the interior of a structure at any position.It also provides the results data of the specified position.

Can TSV-Post perform dynamic analysis?
By adding options, frequency response and transient response analysis can be calculated.

During Installation

TSV-Post cannot be installed successfully.
